The Silver Swan - A conservation project by Matthew Read

Location:

West Dean College

Matthew Read brings to life the fascinating history of the Bowes Museum's Silver Swan

Matthew Read is Horologist and Conservation of Clocks programme tutor at West Dean College. This free event is an excellent opportunity to hear him talk on the Silver Swan. Currently the star attraction at the Science Museum's 'Robots' exhibition, the mechanical swan is the only one of its kind in the world and its musical performance has enchanted audiences since it was first built in 1773. Learn more about the conservation of this unique musical automaton from a leading conservator who has worked with the swan since 2008.

This event is free and open to the public but booking is required.
