Museums + Heritage Awards 2017 Shortlist Announced

Six projects have been shortlisted in the Restoration or Conservation category of the prestigious awards

Now in its 15th year, the Museums + Heritage awards recognize projects of excellence, innovative and ground-breaking exhibitions from galleries and visitor attractions across the UK and Europe.

The shortlisted in the Restoration or Conservation Category are:

  • The Natural History Museum, The Blue Whale Project
  • National Museums Liverpool, Lady Lever Art Gallery South End Galleries Development
  • Museum of London, Restoration of 17th century fire engine
  • Royal Museum's Greenwich, Conservation of the King's Presence Chamber ceiling
  • Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, Command of the Oceans
  • The Fitzwilliam Museum and the Hamilton Kerr Institute, Restoration of Sebastiano's Adoration of the Shepherds

The Awards are judged by a panel of the sector’s leading lights including, Diane Lees, Director General, Imperial War Museum; Bernard Donoghue, Director, Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) and other leading sector professionals. 

The winners will be announced in a ceremony on 17th May.
