Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Conservation

Our new Chair will be an enterprising and passionate supporter of cultural heritage to lead the organisation through a period of growth and change. This fulfilling role will appeal to a people-focused individual with a well-developed understanding and real appreciation of conservation. You will welcome the opportunity to actively engage with our membership at this period in Icon’s development and you will have the experience, vision, skills and enthusiasm to help us shape our next strategy and deliver sustainable financial growth.

The application is open to anyone with an understanding of and dedication to conservation principles and who supports Icon’s Values and Mission of delivering ‘Advocacy, Excellence and Engagement’ in conservation. Icon members are particularly encouraged to apply and take on this important role in the future of the profession and the promotion of world-class conservation practise.

Co-opted Trustees of the Institute of Conservation

We are looking for two new Co-opted Trustees to bring strength and experience to the Board. Icon’s Board of 16 comprises a majority of professional conservators and a number of Co-opted Trustees from outside the field, who are not members of Icon. In 2019, we are looking for two new Co-opted Trustees to bring strength and experience to the Board. Icon’s Trustees have ultimate responsibility for the organisation and are both charity trustees and the directors of the charitable company.

We particularly welcome applicants who have experience in some of these areas:

  • Financial management, either in a commercial or charitable environment, including familiarity with management accounts, financial risk and project finance
  • Fund raising, with experience with fundraising, donations, legacies and membership campaigns
  • Marketing communications, including social media
  • Organisational change, as Icon addresses future opportunities and challenges.
