*Thank you to all who have submitted abstracts for 20 minute talks to this forum. We would now like to open up the call for live posters. Live posters will be a 5 minute presentation accompanied by one or two slides. Abstracts will be accepted in the same way as before but please highlight that you wish it to be a poster. The deadline for submission is August 31st. In light of delays to numerous projects we are extending the deadline of full talk abstracts to the same date.*

We welcomes abstracts for papers concerning the challenges of conserving and displaying textiles on open display. Abstracts on a wide range of related issues are welcome, potentially including:

  • Conservators on public display
  • Contemporary art and installations
  • Events in historic spaces
  • Textiles in historic buildings
  • Mixed media objects
  • Mounting and mounting materials
  • Museum open display
  • Preventive conservation and IPM
  • Touring exhibitions and loans

Abstracts should be between 250 & 300 words in English, excluding title and author contact information (name, title, mailing address, email, telephone).

Please send abstracts by July 1st 2020 to Hannah Sutherland h.sutherland@vam.ac.uk, with the subject “Icon Spring Forum”. Please feel free to get in touch if you want to run an idea past us before writing an abstract.

The chosen authors will be notified after the committee meeting in September 2020 and preprints will be expected by the end of December 2020. The presentation of the paper should last 20 minutes, with additional time allowed for questions.

Registration and booking details will posted in the autumn, including details of accompanying tours and workshops.
