Summary: 

Have you every wondered why photographs in the museum collections fall apart and what you can do to reduce this? Then this is the on-line course for you. We will look at the ten agents of deterioration as they affect photographic material, going through the simple steps that you can take to reduce their effects and examining handling in detail. Bring your questions about your photographic collections because your interaction is positively encouraged.

Suitable for: For all those who care for photographic material. Suitable for those who are at the beginning of their journey in understanding how to care for photographic material and those who have some experience. Not suitable for conservators with a good grounding and experience in photographic conservation

By the end of the session, delegates will:

• Name the ten agents of deterioration

• Understand how the ten agents of deterioration cause photographs to fall apart

• Understand the simple steps that you can implement to slow down the rate that your photographs deteriorate

• Be able to implement these steps

• Understand how the fundamentals of handling photographs

By booking a place on to SHARE Museums East Training Programme, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

That you are from an East of England museum which is in Arts Council England’s Museum Accreditation Scheme. Where this is not applicable you acknowledge that SHARE will facilitate your attendance if availability permits and that your organisation will pay any fees which may apply.
It is a condition of receiving this ACE funded training that the online evaluation sent to the email address provided at the point of booking is completed by the specified deadline. This deadline is in the email notification unless a paper evaluation is specifically requested and submitted on the day of the training session.
By booking a place you agree that you are booking as a representative of your organisation and should you cancel your booking without sufficient notice your organisation is responsible for paying the late cancellation fee of £50.
