Climate resilience at English Heritage – Understanding and adapting to the impacts of climate change

Climate change - come and learn how English Heritage are assessing the risk and adapting.

Climate change is one of the greatest threats our heritage will face. It is important that we understand how this risk may materialise in our heritage, and the different impacts it can cause, both positively and negatively, to ensure we can effectively manage and preserve our heritage. Join the Icon Sustainability Group as Dr Paul Lankester sets out the approach being developed at English Heritage to understand how climate change will impact their estate of over 400 sites, covering all aspects of their work, and the adaptation measures that will be required to ensure English Heritage is climate resilient. Two main aspects will be covered, a national risk assessment to prioritise individual sites for assessment, and the methodology for carrying out site specific climate change risk assessments. Future plans and the strategy to embed climate resilience into the organisation will also be discussed.
