Build on your existing skills during this 3 day course focussing on the following areas:
• Object assessment
Choosing materials and tactics for successful repairs
Understand material choices on later phases of repair
• Epoxy resin fill preparation
Adapting fill preparation to minimise effort and stress on the object
• Colour matching and opacity matching
Reducing visibility of the fill with correct colour and opacity matching
Layering fills for more discrete repairs tight to the area of loss.
• Polishing methods
Options for matching surface quality, texture and finish
This course is aimed at advanced beginner or improver conservators interested in colour filling technique.
Participants will learn the advantages and limitations of the colourfill technique and its application in the repair of ceramics, enamel, and related materials over 3 days.
We will be considering various epoxy resins, a range of bulking materials and tinting methods.
Polishing and finishing techniques will be covered.
Attendees will benefit from being part of a small focused group with a student to tutor ratio of 1:3 working in a bespoke studio. Benefit from tutors who have been running well established commercial studio working to achieve the highest standards.

Please bring an apron. Objects and tools will be provided but you're welcome to bring your own.
The attendees will be expected to have practical experience in dealing with objects and good understanding of conservation theory, including health and safety.
In order to take full advantage of the skills taught during the course attendees will ideally be confident in reversing old repairs, cleaning and accurately bonding damaged ceramics.
