Health & Heritage: Churches Conservation Trust Conference
Church of St Mary at the Quay, Foundation Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 1BU
Finding new solutions to challenges facing the mental health, cultural heritage and museum industries
Health and Heritage - the international conference exploring what the health and heritage sectors can offer one another - takes place in March. The two-day conference is hosted by Quay Place: an innovative new wellbeing centre in an expertly adapted historic church on the 1400 year-old docklands in Ipswich, England.
Organised in partnership with Suffolk Mind (UK) and Future for Religious Heritage (EU), the conference will bring together leading professionals in the mental health, heritage and museum sectors.
In a series of talks, challenging discussions and workshops, Health and Heritage will foster lively debate to inspire much needed action on mental health provision and access to cultural heritage as a positive force for healthy, productive communities. It will provide researchers, practitioners, community activists and policymakers with practical tools and resources, and allow them to develop networks, to empower new projects that address both health and heritage agendas.
Delegates will gain practical tools, learn innovative techniques and approaches, meet some fantastic people and enjoy experiencing first hand everything that successful partnerships between health and heritage organisations have to offer. Key themes include:
1) Mental health and heritage: working together to meet increasing demand
2) Architecture of extended use: built environments for healthy, happy living
3) Adapting religious heritage to better meet the wellbeing needs of modern communities
