Join Antique Bronze for a day of hands-on-learning about how basic colours are created on bronze sculptures and have the support of a highly experienced tutor.

Event description:

This course will teach you about original patination so that you can understand and identify how a finish might have been created, what chemicals are likely to have been used to achieve certain shades and the techniques applied to bring them about. This practical training will allow you to try out the methods involved in this craft so that you get a feeling for the unique personality of bronze.

The day will focus on how to patinate some basic colours on bronze achieved with the hot patination method. This is a technique commonly used to finish art bronzes involving the application of heat and chemicals to a cast bronze surface. We will be supplying all materials.

The course can take a maximum of four students. You can be collected from Braintree station and brought to Paul’s foundry.

Tea/Coffee and home-made snack will be provided.
