Icon Scotland Group: Conservation at Stirling Castle for Students & Emerging Professionals

Stirling Castle, Castle Esplanade, Stirling, FK8 1EJ

An afternoon at Stirling Castle to find out about some aspects of how Historic Environment Scotland look after some of the most vulnerable and historic parts of the castle. This event is aimed at students of conservation and related fields as well as those who have recently qualified and also people interested in studying conservation. In particular we want to encourage early career architects, conservators, surveyors, planners, curators and other museum professionals.

The event is a rare chance to learn about conservation in the company of people with a range of different backgrounds and interests. In particular we will be looking at the tapestries, the carved oak Stirling Heads and how they are looked after in the challenging environment of the castle.

1.15pm meet at Castle Esplanade

1.30pm group entry to the castle followed by a short walking tour of the areas of interest.

3.30pm meet up in the castle for a tea or coffee (included in ticket cost)

4pm end - and everyone will have an hour to work their way down to the castle exit as it shuts at 5pm.

Historic Environment Scotland are kindly sponsoring this event.

Booking essential, first come first served.
