Whether for a conservation project, your own professional development, or wider cultural heritage projects that you are involved in, this workshop will give self-employed and employed conservators practical knowledge on how to make an effective bid.
Emma Chaplin (Consultant, and Director of the Association of Independent Museums 2018-2021), will lead the course. Content includes practical tips on writing a great application, dealing with success and failure, as well as advice from guest speaker Margaret Harrison (Programmes Manager at AIM) who will offer her perspective as a funder and grants assessor.

Emma Chaplin is a highly experienced and respected museum professional, having led the Association of Independent Museums from 2018-21 and developed a successful consultancy business from 2009-18, building on senior management and curatorial roles in independent and local authority museums.
As Director of AIM, Emma initiated the advocacy to secure vital support for independent museums to survive the impact of Covid, culminating in unprecedented levels of sector support from the government’s Cultural Recovery Fund. She ensured that AIM refocused to champion and support its 1000+ members through these most challenging of times.
Emma holds the Fellowship of the Museums Association, is a Trustee of the Creswell Heritage Trust and is the Accreditation Mentor for the Museum of Welsh Cricket.
