A talk on the multidisciplinary Jordaens Van Dyck Panel Paintings Project
The multidisciplinary Jordaens Van Dyck Panel Paintings Project (www.jordaensvandyck.org) has examined 300 oil paintings on panel by the 17th Century Flemish artists Anthony van Dyck and Jacob Jordaens, including dendrochronology, recording and identifying panel maker’s and Guild marks, and new archival research. It is the most detailed research project to date on 17th Century panel paintings.
The talk will focus on the objects themselves, the project’s findings and their importance for art historians, conservators and others involved in cultural heritage preservation. The project’s results are being published in open access, on a website and through online journals. The talk will highlight how to consult these new and permanent resources on 17th century Flemish panel paintings.
