Event description: 

The workshop will be run twice, so attendees should sign up either for the morning or the afternoon.

Morning session: 10.30-12.30 with registration and coffee from 10.00 and lunch provided from 12.30-13.30. Book here for morning session.

This workshop will show how risk management approaches can be used to inform and support collection care decisions, including conservation treatments, preservation policies and loan requests, and will provide practical advice on using and developing these methods.

The workshop will be delivered by Dr Paul Garside.

Dr Paul Garside studied chemistry at the University of Southampton, where he remained to carry out PhD research investigating the properties of natural polymer fibres (awarded 2002). After working at the Textile Conservation Centre as Research Fellow in Conservation Science, he joined the British Library as Conservation Scientist in 2009. He manages scientific analysis and identification of materials, assessment of long-term properties and environmental responses, and development of risk management strategies for collection items and projects.

12 places available for each session Ticket cost £10. Ticket price includes lunch, coffee and tea.
