Workshop: Making Bespoke Book Cradles for Exhibitions
To: Saturday 01.12.18
The Project Room, The British Library,
96 Euston Road, London NW1 2DB
On this one day course, you will learn how to make three different cradles for displaying books either closed or open.
The cradles are made from a conservation-grade mount board and are made to perfectly fit the shape of a book. At the end of an exhibition these cradles can easily be recycled and so there is no issue with finding storage space for them, as is often the case with acrylic cradles.
About the instructor:
Monika Stokowiec is a freelance book conservator with many years of experience working in private studios and institutions such as Durham University and University of Southampton. She currently lives in Cornwall where she runs her own practice, but also works regularly at the College of Arms in London.
This workshop is limited to 8 participants.
All materials are included in the cost and you will end up with three cradles to take away with you. You will need to bring a few simple tools with you. A list will be sent once you have booked a ticket. There will be a lunch break, but you must provide your own lunch.
