Writing for Publication

A workshop with Dr Hélia Marçal to help you understand the ins-and-outs of academic publishing.

Academic writing is a mouthful used to describe the process to disseminate your research in a written (and, sometimes, visual) format, within the ecology of academic scholarship.

This workshop will look at the various phases of academic writing, providing useful tips for writing for different academic audiences, and finding the best way to disseminate your research. This workshop will comprise both presentations and practical exercises.

By the end of the workshop, participants will know:

  • What to have into account in selecting a publisher, a journal, or a book collection
  • How to structure your proposal without compromising your writing style
  • The ins and outs of the peer-review process,
  • What to do if your first attempt doesn’t work.
  • Publishing practice-led research (practitioner focused)

Participants will additionally receive a pack with relevant resources so that they can continue to practice.

Limited to 25 places.
