Morgan Lirette:  Morgan Lirette is a trained book and paper conservator and now working in higher education as the Sustainable Development Advisor for the University of Westminster. 

Dr Helen Wilson ACR: Helen is an Icon-accredited heritage scientist/preventive conservator in The National Archives’ Collection Care Department (UK). Helen also volunteers on Icon's Sustainability Network and Heritage Science Group committees. 

Zarah Korb: Marie Skłodowska-Curie Career Restart Fellow at the University of Basel. Research focuses on bio-based materials design in the heritage realm and beyond. 

Jessica Crann:  Jessica Crann is an Accredited Paper Conservator and has been working for the Science Museum Group as the Library & Archives Conservator for the last 7 years. 

Nicola Grahamslaw:  Nicola Grahamslaw is an award-winning Systems Engineer. She’s on a mission to reduce the carbon footprint of conservation by encouraging better understanding and more pragmatic use of climate control systems. 

Lorna Richardson:  Dr Lorna-Jane Richardson FHEA, FSA (she/her).  Lecturer in Digital Humanities & Heritage School of Art, Media & American Studies, University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, Norwich. 

Victoria Stevens: Victoria Stevens ACR has worked in conservation for over 25 years, managing her own conservation practice since 2017. In 2022 she was appointed as written heritage conservator at Reading University. 

Hever Castle: Hever Castle & Gardens in Kent is the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. The historic castle and award winning gardens attract thousands of visitors a year. 

Charlotte Nickels:  I graduated from Camberwell College in 1994.  In 1998 I set up my business - PaperBack Conservation - where I specialise in the conservation of works of art on paper.  I am a member of the steering group for the Icon Sustainability Network and am lucky enough to live and work in Bridport, Dorset. 

AIC Sustainability Committee:  The Sustainability Committee of the American Institute for Conservation, consisting of 10 professional members and a student subcommittee, actively promotes sustainable practices and research within and beyond the national organisation. 

Northwestern University Library Preservation and Conservation (Katie Risseeuw): Northwestern University Library Preservation Department  is responsible for the care of circulating and special collections through preventive programs and conservation treatments. The Preservation Librarian, Katie Risseeuw, is the social media manager.  Based Chicago, IL.

Twitter Conference Contributor Biographies

James Grierson: James Grierson has been Icon Chair for the last two (eventful) years.  He is a Chartered Surveyor by background and has led a major international practice.  He now has a portfolio of interests including as Chair of York Museums Trust and Trustee of the York Consortium for Craft & Conservation (YCCC) which supports craftspeople and conservators.  James has four grown-up daughters and lives in North Yorkshire. 

City & Guilds of London Art School:  The Art School has a long history of supporting excellence in Fine Art & our specialist subjects: Conservation, Carving & Art Histories at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Short courses are also offered. 

Letitia Steer and John Iaciofano:  Letitia Steer (Collection Care Conservator) and John Iaciofano (Facilities Manager) both work at the Museum of London and have collaborated together on this project at the Museum of London Docklands. 

Emma Coburn ACR:  Collections Manager at Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village. I am an active member of our Environmental Sustainability Working Group, championing sustainable practices across the organisation. 

Abigail Bainbridge:  Director of Bainbridge Conservation. She teaches book conservation at City & Guilds of London Art School and she’s  Chair of the Icon Book & Paper Group. 

Ellie Evans: Ellie Evans is a Collections Assistant and a PhD student based in Cumbria, UK. Ellie is also the Social Media officer for Icon ESN and Ki Culture.  

Lorraine Finch ACR:  An accredited conservator and an original hippy. I am Director and founder of LFCP providing remote and onsite consultation, training opportunities and mentoring to organisations to help them meet their sustainability goals.

Ruth Knight:  Ruth is responsible for leading work to embed sustainability across English Heritage. She has a background in environmental policy, architecture, urban design and historic conservation.   

Robin James: House Officer for the West Horsley Place Trust, responsible for the conservation of Grade II listed building fabric and a diverse collection of heritage objects. 

AIC Sustainability Committee: The Sustainability Committee of the American Institute for Conservation consists of 10 professional members and is dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and research within and beyond the national organisation.   

Stephanie Shapiro Managing Director, Environment & Culture Partners: Environment & Culture Partners is a US non-profit accelerating the cultural sector’s environmental leadership. Our environment and climate action work spans research and training, engagement, and representation activities.

Lorraine Finch ACR: Chair of the ICON Environmental Sustainability Network. I have a long history of involvement in environmentalism and sustainability. I want to help all those working in the cultural heritage sector to be more environmentally sustainable.

Katharine Richardson: Preventive Conservator based at the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Research Collections. I devised the Environmental Sustainability in Collections Care internship project that was recently completed by Karoline Sofie.

Karoline Sofie Hennum: Emerging objects conservator currently based in South-East England. Recently completed an internship in Environmental Sustainability at University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Research Collections (CRC).

Zarah Korb:  Marie Skłodowska-Curie Career Restart Fellow at the University of Basel. Research focuses on bio-based materials design in the heritage realm and beyond.

Ben Melham: Director of Mortice Consulting working with institutions across the cultural sector in the UK and abroad. Ben is chair of the International Museum Construction Congress and chair of the Cultural Sector FM Hub.

Ailsa Murray: Currently employed at Historic Environment Scotland as a Senior Paintings Conservator, specialising in both easel and structural paintings. Particularly interested in the recreation of historical pieces using traditional materials and techniques.

Mariana Escamilla Martinez: Mariana is a paintings conservator at Studio Redivivus based in The Hague, The Netherlands. Her Masters Thesis focused on the assessment of five organic “green” solvents and their effects on oil-based paints.

Fit for the Future Network: A thriving, collaborative sustainability network of 120+ organisations from the not-for-profit sector & beyond, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and best practice through curated events and bespoke one-to-one link-ups.

Lorraine Finch ACR: Chair of the ICON Environmental Sustainability Network. I have a long history of involvement in environmentalism and sustainability. I want to help all those working in the cultural heritage sector to be more environmentally sustainable.

Henry McGhie: Henry McGhie has a background as an ecologist, museum curator and senior manager. He set up Curating Tomorrow in 2019 to help museums enhance their contributions to sustainability, the SDG’s, climate action and biodiversity conservation.

Sara Kassam: Sara is Sustainability Lead at the V&A, with a multi-site remit to embed sustainability expertise and drive systemic change in museum operations and behaviours.

Pia Edqvist: I am an Objects Conservator with a special commitment to sustainability, human rights and ethics. I therefore joined Ki Culture in 2019 to become the Co-Director of Social Sustainability. Ki Culture is a non-profit organisation that provides sustainable solutions for cultural heritage.

Morgan Lirette: Morgan is a Book and Paper Conservator at the British Library, having graduated from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2018. She is the founder and current co-chair of the British Library Green Network.

Anastasia Gkouma: Objects conservator with a MSc degree in Conservation from Cardiff University. My current role as part of the Cliveden Conservation team involves leading and designing a new sustainability action plan.

Lynn Teggart ACR: Paper Conservator and member of the Green Champions Network at Historic Environment Scotland - striving for a reduced carbon footprint at work and at home.

Liz D’Arcy A-ICRI: Paper Conservator in private practice for 25 years based in Wicklow, Ireland. M.A Conservation of Fine Art on Paper from University of Northumbria, UK. B.A History of Art and Archaeology, University College Dublin, Ireland.

AIC Sustainability Committee: American Institute for Conservation Sustainability Committee is composed of conservators and allied professionals who are committed to promoting and advancing sustainable projects, information and solutions for the world’s current climate and ecological crises.
