Under the Surface: digital X-radiography in heritage

One-day conference

Deadline for abstracts 27 September 2019

The Icon Archaeology Group and the Museum of London invite contributions for a one-day conference on the selection, purchase and use of digital X-radiography systems in museums and the heritage sector.

In recent years a number of heritage institutions and conservation laboratories have begun to make the move towards digital X-radiography. We believe this is an ideal opportunity to bring together organisations at all stages of this journey to discuss and share experiences on the use of this technology.

Oral presentations will be of 20 minutes duration with questions at the end of each session.

The conference will begin with a keynote address from Sonia O’Connor.

All submissions are welcome. Preference will be given to abstracts covering:

• Purchase of new digital X-radiography machines: tips, pitfalls and lessons learned

• Recent developments in digital imaging techniques

• Case studies showing the use of digital X-radiography

• Guidelines and health and safety considerations when using X-radiography

Abstracts (maximum 300 words) must be sent via email by 27 September 2019 to Luisa Duarte ( . A maximum of two images may be included in the abstract.
