Heritage 2020 Voluntary Project To Examine Local Authorities

The Heritage 2020 Capacity Building Group is looking for expressions of interest in a voluntary project to update an existing list of statutory duties related to heritage imposed by Government on Local Authorities.

Heritage 2020 is a major initiative to strengthen partnerships and collaborative working across the historic environment sector in order to sustain and promote the historic environment of England, encourage access and broaden knowledge for a variety of audiences.

The project is driven by the concern at the loss of heritage skills and expertise working within or advising Local Authorities. The Capacity Building Group hopes that an up-to-date list of the statutory duties placed on Local Authorities as they relate to heritage will help Local Authorities to focus their activities and to retain skills and expertise.

Heritage 2020 invites expressions of interest from heritage, academic, planning, legal or other professionals able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience to deliver the project. The deadline for expressions of interest is 17.00 on Thursday 5 July.
