Icon joins new business support programme Heritage Compass

Icon has been accepted on to the Heritage Compass Business Support Programme funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Heritage Compass was launched in 2020 by Cause4. Working with partners Creative United and the Arts Marketing Association the programme has been designed to grow resilience and invigorate the heritage sector across England.

The programme’s aim is to support heritage organisations in building their resilience and developing their individual strategies. Organisations will get access to tailored training, mentoring and peer learning, equipping participants with enhanced skills in business planning, audience and stakeholder development, leadership and change management.

“I am delighted that Icon will be taking part in the programme,” Icon Chief Executive Sara Crofts commented. “We started thinking about our need to tackle our lack of organisational resilience and our skills gaps in terms of commercial acumen and entrepreneurialism last year and have been looking for ways to secure business development support. Heritage Compass has come along at the perfect time for us. We’re ready to focus our energies on rethinking our strategy and will really value being part of a cohort.”

The two-year programme will enable up to 150 small or medium sized heritage organisations from across the country to work together and move forward as a part of a "dynamic cohort" of heritage organisations.

“I know that we’ll be inspired by the other participants and that the learning will have much more depth and impact because it is sustained over a two year programme,” Sara noted.

Be connected, be inspired! We’re here to make a positive change for the things we value – so get involved and help us take this forward!
