Icon welcomes a new Chair of the Board of Trustees

Icon is delighted to announce that the new Chair of Icon, from January next year, will be James Grierson.  James will take over from Siobhan Stevenson ACR, who has been in the role since 2015.

James is a Chartered Surveyor who served as an equity partner and board member of an international real estate advisory practice. He has held non-executive positions in the NHS, higher education, government and commercial organisations. He is currently a Council member at Durham University, a trustee of the York Foundation for Conservation & Craftsmanship and Chair of York Museums Trust.  James brings extensive commercial leadership and governance experience to this new role, along with a lifelong passion for cultural heritage.

James Grierson said:

"I am thrilled and privileged to have been appointed as Chair of one of the UK’s leading conservation charities. I relish the thought that so much of my experience can be put to good use in an organisation that plays such a crucial role in looking after our cultural heritage."

Siobhan Stevenson, retiring Chair of the Board of Trustees said:

“We are delighted to be welcoming James as the new Chair of Icon. James is very much a people-focused leader with a tremendous breadth of skills and experience. I wish him every success in his leadership of Icon and the Board of Trustees as they continue to deliver for our membership and on our key priorities of Advocacy, Excellence and Engagement in conservation.”
