Scotland Analyses Culture Strategy Feedback
The Scottish Government has published a report summarising analysis of the responses to last year’s public consultation on a draft Culture Strategy for Scotland.
Icon supported the strategy’s acknowledgement of culture’s empowering and transformative potential. However, Icon’s response argued for greater parity of support between the creative and heritage subsectors of culture and more explicit recognition of the contribution conservation and heritage science make to society.
Icon is pleased to see that our concerns were echoed by others, with “a number of respondents” wishing to see greater emphasis on the role of cultural heritage. We look forward to the Scottish Government’s response to the results and hope that the final strategy supports heritage and the creative industries equally.
