The Oxford Conservation Consortium (OCC) has a paid opportunity for a student or recent graduate of conservation specialising in either books or paper to carry out the conservation and rehousing of John Keble Sermons.

The role is an opportunity to gain practical conservation experience working on manuscript paper documents, in a busy conservation studio.

The Role

John Keble (1792-1866) was an English Anglican priest and one of the leaders of the Oxford Movement. His sermons offer a unique insight into the religious philosophy of the Movement and its impact on the Church of England.

The postholder will be required to carry out conservation treatments on a selection of the sermons, under supervision of an accredited conservator on the OCC team. The job will be based at the OCC studio in central Oxford, with visits to the collection site at Keble College, Oxford.

This is a fixed term contract for four continuous weeks at 32.5 hours of work a week, 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday with 1.5 hours of breaks per day. Free lunch at Magdalen College is provided. Start date is negotiable, but will take place in summer or autumn 2025.

About You

Applicants must be enrolled at the time of application on a recognised course in conservation specialising in either books or paper.
