Icon Photography Competition: win a free Icon membership!
“Conservation requires a keen sensitivity to form, colour and texture. We are a visual and sensory profession.
We are also very focused, and our photography is often so intent on accurately documenting details of construction, damage and treatment that we forget to document the beauty of our personal encounters with material culture.” - Ylva Dahnsjö ACR FLS FIIC
“Good images are essential to help Icon convey the importance and relevance of our members’ work to our stakeholders and to members of the public. Our website and social media channels are a key advocacy tool, but our photograph library is very limited. We would like to have access to a wider range of engaging images that illustrate the breadth of the conservation profession.” - Sara Crofts, Chief Executive
Icon is launching a new annual photography competition to encourage members to create images to help us communicate the magic of conservation with non-specialist audiences.
Entries may be used by Icon to illustrate conservation activity (the images will be fully credited). This is your chance to show off our profession and its everyday magic.
What we are looking for
An original, high quality image of an aspect of your work that addresses the challenge in the statements above.
Your image can include people, activities, or the subject of the conservation treatment. The picture doesn’t need to tell the whole story - or any story at all - but it must have the capacity to enthuse and intrigue the audience, and hopefully entice them to find out more about conservation.
You can submit more than one image. Please submit clear images that are up to 2,000px x 2,000px.
Who can submit entries
This competition is open to everyone – you don’t need to be an Icon member to participate.
How to submit an entry
Please use the form at the bottom of the page to submit your entry.
Prize
The winner will be chosen by Icon Chief Executive Sara Crofts and Icon member Ylva Dahnsjö ACR on the basis of the brief outlined above.
