Call for hosts: new internships programme launched
The new internships programme is generously supported by five dedicated funders: Idlewild Trust, National Manuscripts Conservation Trust, Pilgrim Trust, Anna Plowden Trust, and The Radcliffe Trust. These funders have partnered with Icon to offer conservation internships in specialist areas considered ‘at risk’.
We are seeking up to three organisations to provide exceptional internship opportunities covering the following conservation practice areas:
- Musical Instruments Conservation
- Manuscripts Conservation
This fully-funded programme ensures that the full costs of delivering the internship are covered. Organisations can choose to manage the programme themselves, in which case they will receive £20,000 towards the intern stipend, to cover the intern’s bursary and on-costs. Icon will manage the recruitment process. Alternatively, the host can choose to deliver the programme fully through Icon; in which case the intern will receive a tax-exempt stipend of £20,000 and Icon will manage recruitment and contracts. In addition, through this model, the intern and supervisor will benefit from the support of a dedicated Intern Advisor who will support the intern's professional development and help the host organisation design and deliver the internship
Placement requirements are as follows:
- Host organisations must be based in the UK.
- Placements can last for 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on the range of available projects and the host organisation's capacity.
- Any organisation, whether public or private sector, can host an internship, provided they hold appropriate insurance and demonstrate suitable health and safety protocols.
To apply for funding, hosts must submit the application form to [email protected] by Monday 16 September at 5pm.
Please find the application form here.
