Amgueddfa Cymru (Deadline 18/11/2024)
We’re looking for an Archaeological Conservator to maintain these collections while the Senior Conservator Archaeology is on internal secondment.
Amgueddfa Cymru looks after Wales’s national collection. It is a valuable cultural resource for people to enjoy, explore and experience in their own communities, in our family of museums, and digitally. It represents the art, archaeology, history, science and culture of Wales in all its variety.
We care for these collections, so that individuals and communities can gain a better understanding of where they live (cynefin), and a sense of their place in the story of the nation.
Wales’s archaeology collection is key to this duty, providing a tangible reminder of the nation’s origins, from its earliest occupation by neanderthals to the revolt of Owain Glyndŵr.
We’re looking for a dynamic Archaeological Conservator to maintain these collections while the Senior Conservator Archaeology is on internal secondment.
Main Purpose of job
You will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the archaeological collections across Amgueddfa Cymru sites (National Museum Cardiff, National Roman Legion Museum, St Fagans National Museum of History), ensuring that those collections are available for use in exhibitions and at events as required.
You’ll also be the first port-of-call if new discoveries are made, providing advice to colleagues as to how best to preserve finds made by the public and archaeologists alike.
How to apply
Please visit the Amgueddfa Cymru website.
Application Deadline, 18 November 2024.
